Tommaso Vinciguerra, count of Palena, had a daughter in 1239 who he named Florisenda. . She came into the noble family after her two brothers Simone and Odorisio, into an ambient particulary devout, in which frequently reverberated the accounts of the journey of S. Francis of Assisi to the medieval castle where the young girl was born and grew up.
Florisenda was born into the christian spirit and when her father died, the vocation of life in a monastery slowly grew stronger. Concealing her plans in her heart, Florisenda asked her brothers for her part of her father's inheritance which included, amongst other things, a third part of the castle at Forca Palena.
With this property and 360 ounces of gold obtained from her mother, Florisenda went to Sulmona, where she bought a building, which still exists in Garibaldi square, in which was born a closet community of which she became Abbess.
Florisenda had to fight against the will of her borthers, who tried in every way to retake her part of the castle of Forca Palena. Notwithstanding the interventions of the Vatican in defense of her prerogatives and of the convent, the dispute went on until the 15th July, 1305 when Carlo II of Angiò confirmed to the closure the donation of Floriseda's inheritance. This is the reason why the area of the castle of Forca Palena gets its name of "Quarto Santa Chiara" .
